WHY WE LIKE PECOLIFT AND ECOLIFT
A SAFE AND EFFICIENT ALTERNATIVE TO LADDERS
Low level access lifts, such as the Pecolift and Ecolift are a safe cost- effective alternative to ladders when working at a height.
Whilst ladders have their place, and for many tasks they are the most suitable option, they also have their limitations – particularly when it comes to working at a height safely for longer periods of time.
There are some excellent low-level access platforms available to ensure a safe environment for working at a height – from Power Towers to aluminium scaffold podiums . The most appropriate solution being dependent the particular needs and requirements of the task.
A key deciding factor will be around safety considerations and the importance of keeping employees, contractors, and visitors safe on-site. Whether an employer, manager, or end user, it is essential to ensure that working at height is properly planned and risks assessed, so that the correct equipment is used.
THE WORK AT HEIGHT REGULATIONS 2005
All workplaces must adhere to The Work at Height Regulations 2005. The regulations are in place to help prevent both injuries and fatalities that can result from working at a height. Falls from a height is particularly prevalent in the construction industry. Indeed, according to recent HSE report , during 2019/2020 the construction industry had the greatest number of fatalities to workers – with a quarter of those deaths caused by a fall from height.
Work at height regulations apply not only to employers but employees too. It is the employee’s responsibility to take reasonable care of both themselves and others who may be impacted by their actions.
LADDER LIMITATIONS
Ladders can be a sensible, practical solution for short duration tasks. However, you need to consider the following points when using a ladder as they are only suitable in certain situations.
Time
If the task requires staying up a ladder or stepladder for periods of more than 30 minutes working at height, then you should consider using alternative equipment more suited to the task.
Stability
Ladders should only be used on firm and level ground, where the surface is clean and there is no chance of slippage.
Usage
Only use ladders in situations where it is safe to do so. For example, think about the materials and tools being used. You need to consider not only the workers weight but also the additional weight of other equipment being carried up the ladder. It is essential that ladders are not overloaded.
If using a ladder isn’t safe or practical for the task in question, then you need to look at other low level access alternatives.
WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT PECOLIFT AND ECOLIFT
Low level access lifts such as the push around Pecolift and Ecolift are practical, safe alternatives for times when ladders are not suitable. They are designed to enable users to work at height over longer periods of time.
There are some key features that make these environmentally friendly, low-level access lifts a popular hire choice with our customers who require a low-level working height of up to 4.2M.
- Safe and secure
Working at heights of above two metres puts workers at risk of series injuries, even death if they should fall. Pecolift and Ecolift provide a safe, secure platform to work from. Adjustable working heights and easy Manoeuvrability means there is less likelihood of risk from falling though overstretching and overreaching to complete tasks.
The Ecolift and Pecolift have in built safety features including guarded work platform, handrail protection, anti-slip platform, and automatic braking. The Pecolift and Ecolift automatically brake when entering the basket and once elevated the wheels are auto locked.
- Ergonomically designed
Ergonomic design can help reduce, even eliminate, some of the discomfort that can develop through poor postures associated with overstretching and overreaching when working at a height.
Pecolift and Ecolift have been ergonomically designed with the operator in mind. Both feet are at the same level, and 360-degree movement reduces the strain of poor posture and allows comfortable working at height for longer periods of time.
A powerful lift mechanism with a simple rotating handle moves the platform chosen working height quickly and with minimal effort.
- Flexible and efficient
Simple to use, Ecolifts and Pecolifts are efficient. There is no erecting or dismantling required so operators can literally step in and go.
Its compact footprint and lightweight design make them flexible and easy to manoeuvre on site.
And, because they are hydraulic oil and battery free there is no need to put time aside to charge them.
- Sustainable
Perfect for clean room environments, Pecolifts and Ecolifts provide an environmentally friendly elevated work platform as they do not require batteries or hydraulic systems like some of the more traditional powered platforms.

ECOLIFT AND PECOLIFT TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employers are responsible for ensuring that anyone operating Pecolift and Ecolift are competent and adequately trained to comply with health and safety legislation.
The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF), states that training is recommended for small static vertical machine without drive, also known as a push around vertical (PAV). Pecolift and Ecolift fall into this group. Visit IPAF for further information.
The Pecolift and Ecolift provide a safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly ‘non powered, powered’ elevated working platform – perfect for low level access up to 4.2M.
